December 16, 2003.   I am 50 years old today.   Actually, yes, I do feel older.
George Dufus Bush has had a couple good days due to apprehending Sadam, but I am not pleased.  George is a bully who most of the world would like to contain.  Sadam was (is) a horrible dictator, and apparently a mass murderer.  my problem with US strategy is the pre-emptive attack and occupation of Iraq, while ignoring the "war on terrorism".

Oh, random thoughts.  Yeah, that's what I've got in mind here.  If anyone reads this, forgive me.  I'm mainly writing for my personal gratification.  This isn't really a diary ... I wouldn't put such a thing on the internet for public inspection.  Rather, it is daily thoughts on things and stuff.  Ok, probably not "daily", but at least as often as I feel compelled to write.

The word is Library.  Not Liberry.  Ok, enough said.

Today is the first day of the 2005 Hurricane Season.  The experts say it will be a busy one, comparing it to 1995.  Well, that remains to be seen for sure.  I like severe weather ... thunderstorms, minor hurricanes.  Forget tornadoes and major hurricanes, too intense (not to mention dangerous).  The southern coastal states with our yearly threat of such calamities have got the mid-west's tornadoes and the west's earthquakes beat by a long shot!  Hurricanes give you a week's notice before they arrive and that is worth a LOT.

George W. Bush, you evil S.O.B.  This is not politics as usual.  Bush is so far beyond a break-in coverup or a sexual escapade, there really is no valid comparison ... not even on the same scale.  What he is about is the wholesale reformation and reconstruction of the United States of America!  Screw the Founding Fathers.  Screw the Constitution.  Screw the middle class.  Screw Separation of Church and State.  Screw SCIENCE!!!!
It has been twenty years since the 'dumbing down of America' campaign began, and Bush apparently decided this thing was going too slowly.  Dufus is the single largest threat to the United States of America.  He is a traitor.  "If you aren't outraged, you aren't paying attention"

Yesterday I started working on a raw recording from Deerpoint Dam.  It really is awesome, and I wish I had started work on it sooner.  I recorded the material several months ago and hadn't done anything with it since.  I feel that when I have it ready for deployment, it will be one of my better recordings.

Our Chief Moron's stand on stem cell research continues to amaze me.  The official position is that it is wrong to destroy life in order to save life.  Think about that for a moment, huh?
Saving the life of, or improving the quality of life of a person is no different than saving an undifferentiated mass of cells lacking a recognizable form.  A mass that, if not used for this research, will simply be DISPOSED OF.  This is the kinda of dark ages anti-science that is a signature of this psychotic regime.
Watching Meet the Press:  I haven't seen many people who's personality was more irritating than Ken Mehlman.  Well, except Rumsfeld, Dubya, Chenney, et al.
When confronted with some facts which he finds do not support his position, he just dismisses the facts by saying he doesn't agree.  Oh, ok.  That clears things up!  Every question he is asked has a scripted reply.  Some politicians can pull off that act, but Mehlman is robot like ... very unconvincing.  I'm glad he's not on my side.

Today is the 35th anniversary of the day the local outdoor rock concert 'Pinestraw' did not take place.  It was squashed by an emergency county ordinance which imposed insurance requirements that have never been enforced for any other outdoor entertainment since that date.  The scheduled date, so soon after Woodstock totally freaked out the local yokels idiots like George Gainer ... even though in Pinestraw's organizer's wildest dreams the turnout would only amount to 1% of Woodstock's.  Oh yeah, by the way, the proceeds were designated to go toward building a new county animal shelter.

A few days ago I saw a man who I may one day vote for on the TV.  John Edwards.  I'd rather vote for Biden.  Hillary comes in behind either of them.  But, about Edwards, he said something that really irritates me.  He regurgitated the phrase "marriage penalty".  What the F**k is this frigging marriage penalty?  I mean, I am single ... I know marrited people who emphatically confirm my suspicions that as a single person the tax laws royally screw me over. The single white male is by FAR the most discriminated minority in this country!!  Socially, economically, and in every way.  So, what the hell is this bull hocky about a marriage penalty, John Edwards (and other career politicians who use the BS phrase)?

Tropical Storm Alberto is headed to the big bend of Florida.  Surely, it will be just as forgettable as TS Alberto of 1994.  But the 1994 storm actually has some memories for me, since it  came ashore some 60 miles East of my home and the wonderful woman I was dating at the time agreed to make the road trip to experience the storm.

It amazes me that we have people in the USA who still hang on to the belief that George Ahole Bush is a good president.  Like, dude, did you graduate the 6th grade?

I'm hoping Al Gore runs for President.  While he was VP, I always wished the ticket was reversed.  Meaning, his agenda is the environment ... and if you don't same the planet, what else could possibly matter?  I'll vote for Hillary IF she wins the Primary, but I most certainly will not vote for her in the Primary.  She's a hawk and much tooooo conservative.   Sad, I would like to vote for a female candidate, but she's not the one.

There are some shows on the SciFi Channel that I enjoy a lot.  But, PLEASE tell me what the heck have they smoked in their programming department that made them think wrestling was appropriate?¿       Its bad enough that 60% of their programming belongs in the Horror genre ... but, wrestling????   Give me a break!

It is sad when a person has to find fault with his/her own heritage.  I've long had a problem with Japan's whaling industry disguised as scientific research (read food).  My heritage is hugely Norwegian.  Bjorn Hugo Bendiksen is the Norwegian Whalers' Union dufus who wants you to accept that killing whales is A-OK, hunky dory.  I say string him up.  His position is that whales aren't threatened, so his country should be allowed to 'harvest' the creatures as they please.  Nevermind that his premise is in contention by every knowledgeable bioligist on the planet.  Even if that were true, get a grip Bendiksen, whales are more intelligent than you are and I suggest we gut you and sell your organs and flesh instead.

From the day of his obvious entrapment, I felt sympathy for Dan Rather.  Here is a man of impeccable integrity going back decades ... who sees a document which makes clear the obvious.  The problem is, the document is a fake.  Mr. Rather, seeing a document which makes the obvious an apparent 'fact' stands by the document.   Well, as far as I am concerned, it doesn't matter that the document was bogus.   I am with you Dan.   Bush avoided the draft with his affluence.  Period.

I really don't know.  Is it a local thing?  Or is it more widespread?
I don't know, what is the percentage of vehicles on the road equiped with power steering?  My old economy car has power steering, I can turn the wheel from lock to lock with a single finger, it is effortless.  But, around here, people seem to be afraid of turning their vehicles.
What I mean is ... when turning onto a highway, nearly everybody turns into the FAR lane.  This is not only in violation of traffic regulations, but for good reason ... it is hazardous.  This is so prevalent you would think, if an outside observer, that it was required by some regulation.  Take a turn, go to the far lane.  What I can't understand is why the vast majority do this ... is it laziness, too lazy to turn their power steering into the proper lane ... or something more ignorant?   Like their eyeballs will explode if they turn their vehicles too sharply?   I suspect the later.
